In my book A Unique Documentary of Health Through Nutrition, I discuss the benefits of olive oil, including its effects on heart disease. According to epidemiological studies, olive oil has been linked to a reduction of the biomarkers that have been linked to coronary heart disease (or CAD), the most common form of heart disease. All forms of olive oil (extra virgin, virgin, etc) have been shown to reduce risk of CAD in as little as 3 weeks. Since we all are always short on time, over the next few weeks I will share 3 tasty and easy ways that you can use start incorporating olive oil into your diet. Here is this weeks’ way:
1) Replace the Salad Dressing
Take 3 parts of olive oil to every 1 part of vinegar and add salt and pepper to taste. Experiment with different ingredients such as red wine vinegar, lemon, or crushed red pepper. There are a million ways to tailor your olive oil dressing to your tastes.
